CrossBus serving Ebbsfleet & Thameside
Getting where you need to go just got easier. CrossBus is a hybrid bus service for the Thameside region that combines the frequency of a bus timetable with the flexibility of an on-demand vehicle service — so you can either hop on the regular bus or book one when it suits you.
Two ways to travel with CrossBus
CrossBus uses small vehicles that run as a regular timetabled bus at the busy times and as a flexible, on-demand service when things are quieter. That gives you two easy ways to get around:
1. Route GC1 — the timetabled bus A scheduled service running Monday to Friday in the am and pm between Greenhithe and Ebbsfleet, calling at Greenhithe, Swanscombe, Castle Hill, Ebbsfleet Green and Ebbsfleet International. Just turn up at the stop and pay the driver — no booking needed. (See the GC1 timetable for exact times.)
2. Crossbus / Go2 — book a bus on demand. Crossbus Go2 is a flexible, on-demand service for Ebbsfleet, Ebbsfleet Garden City and the surrounding area. You can travel anywhere within the coverage zone — simply book a bus and go. It runs seven days a week, 6am to 1am (6am to midnight on Sundays), which makes it perfect for trips when the regular buses aren't running at the times you need.
You tell the app when and where you want to travel, and we bring the bus to you. Journeys are shared, so your route may not be direct, but the app always shows a live estimated time of arrival. The service runs bus stop to bus stop, and the app directs you to your nearest stop.
Where CrossBus covers
The Crossbus / Go2 on-demand zone covers Ebbsfleet International, Ebbsfleet Green, Ebbsfleet Garden City, Castle Hill, Swanscombe, Greenhithe, Stone, Northfleet, Springhead and Eastgate — including Bluewater Shopping Centre, Darent Valley Hospital and Stone Crossing station.
Route GC1 runs along the Greenhithe ↔ Ebbsfleet International corridor (via Swanscombe, Castle Hill and Ebbsfleet Green).

Fares — CrossBus Go2 - variable fares
CrossBus Go2 isn't a flat bus fare. Because each trip is booked just for you and shared only where journeys overlap, fares work more like a shared taxi:
- Distance-based – the further you travel, the higher the fare.
- Time of day matters – fares are higher during the busy morning and afternoon peaks and lower off-peak.
- Bring a friend for £1 – an additional "plus-one" passenger travelling with you pays a flat £1.20.
- Children – children aged 4 and under travel free with a paying adult; child fares apply for ages 5–18.
| When you travel | Time band | Adult fare | Concession |
|---|---|---|---|
| Peak | Monday to Friday mornings & afternoons (0600-0930 & 1500-1900 | from £4.10 depending on distance. | Not Available |
| Off-peak | 0930-1500 and after 1900 and all day Sat and Sun | from £2.80 depending on distance | 50% off (registered passes) |
