Pay by contactless and let Tap & Cap do the maths for you. Just tap the same card, phone or watch every time you travel and you’ll never pay more than the best-value ticket. There’s nothing to work out and nothing to buy in advance.

How much will I pay?

School services: no more than £8 a day or £38 a week
477: no more than £5.50 a day or £25 a week
Daytime services: no more than £7.30 a day

For example, school journeys at £4 each are automatically capped at £8 a day and £38 a week.

Weekly caps run over a rolling 7 days, so you never pay more than the weekly cap in any 7 days in a row.

Coming next term: the termly cap

From next half-term, keep tapping the same card on school services and your total will be capped at the termly ticket price, up to the term’s fixed end date. You get the value of a season ticket without having to buy one upfront.

Use the same card every time

Caps only add up on one card. Your phone or watch counts as a different card from the bank card linked to it. So if you start the week tapping your phone, keep using your phone.
